This morning, like every two weeks, we were scheduled to get Avastin, the vasso-growth inhibitor that’s we believe has been helping starve the tumors to death. However, we decided that because of the abdominal pain that Maggie’s been experiencing we’d instead ask to speak with Dr. Loukas. Continue reading This Pain in Her Side is a… uh… Pain

More Mysterious Abdominal Pains
Today has been rough around the edges. Over the last week Maggie’s abdominal pain has been sporadic but occurring with increasing severity. Last night after a wonderfully delightful supper with friends the pain hit her pretty badly. The worst is when she coughs or sneezes but occasionally it’s just spontaneous, like last night. Steady as She Goes
In addition to the news already posted about Monday, the CPT-11 infusion was uneventful, as we’ve grown accustom to. In fact, it’s such a “non-event” now that Chris even left Maggie to take care of some other things. Continue reading Steady as She Goes
Oh, The Ride!
The one thing that has been consistent throughout this Great Cancer Adventure is the inconsistency of things. One day it’s up. One day it’s down. Then, once you think you’ve managed to adjust to the up/down cycles a surprise hard left turn snaps your neck. Well, hold on to your neck. Here comes that hard left turn…. MD Anderson’s Response
The news from MD Anderson’s surgical team came quicker that we expected. They won’t do the surgery. Maggie’s tumors are too many, too big. That was her last known opportunity for a cure. The news is not a surprise but it crushes that little glimmer of hope. Continue reading MD Anderson’s Response
Back from MD Anderson
We are back from MD Anderson. Sorry for the delay in posting the events. We were very tired from the anxiety and, distracted by the HUGE fire outside the window, forgot to update the web site before we left. Continue reading Back from MD Anderson
Follow-up Appointment with Dr. Eng
Today at 3:30 is our follow-up appointment with Dr. Eng. She’ll tell us whether Maggie is eligible for the potentially life-saving liver resection surgery based on the scans that were performed late Tuesday.
@MD Anderson – Update on Visit with Dr. Eng
We’ve met with Dr. Eng, met with a geneticist, given blood samples and are now waiting for the CT scans and X-Rays. We’re really early – they aren’t scheduled until nearly 7PM but hey, what else to do? Maggie’s making a necklace out of beads* and Chris, well, he’s typing something on his laptop. Continue reading @MD Anderson – Update on Visit with Dr. Eng
@MD Anderson Waiting to See Dr. Eng
Well, we’ve made it to MD Anderson! We got checked in and got to meet the two wonderful ladies who have helped us get to this point, Kim Rogers and Phyllis Arnold. It was so nice to finally put a face to the names. And they were both super sweet ladies. Chris took pictures. J
Party Party Recovery (a.k.a. Wow, the House is a Real Mess!)
Today has been a lazy day recovering from the graduation party and preparing for our MD Anderson visit on Tuesday. Maggie, as is typical lately, is doing great (actually better than Chris today due to something about “hydration” and “imbibing” last night). She was on full steam last night.
