The Flu-Like Symptoms Cometh

Maggie feels pretty horrible today – lethargy, slight fever, general malaise.  Just basically bad.  All this is just a side effect of the Neulasta shot I administered Wednesday morning.  To put it bluntly, it’s great that she’s feeling bad because that means the Neulasta is working – cranking up Maggie’s white blood cell factory.  We’ve got to quickly compensate for the massive kill off Monday caused by the chemo she was administered.  Take this pill.  Chase it with this to counter-act the side effects.  Now take this shot to fix the side effects caused by that pill.  Then this.  Then that.  It’s like playing a dangerous game of Whack-A-Mole.  Except it’s more like Whack-A-Maggie – she’s taking all the abuse.

Thank goodness that we basically have one week of this crap.  It’s a long week but it’s so much better than it was back in late January and February.  One week and we’re basically back to 75%.  Of course, then, two weeks later they hit her again.  Cancer sucks.

Tomorrow Maggie’s off to her friends house for a good low-key movie night.  She’s excited.
